The Associate Pastor will partner with the Lead Pastor and Board of Elders in leading Salem EFC members and attenders to love God, grow together, and reach our world for Christ. We are seeking an innovative, passionate, and committed person who will assist in creating environments and opportunities for people to take their next steps with Jesus. Initially, the core function of this position will be the oversight and leadership of our youth program (The Kulture) and children’s ministries.
Associate Pastor Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the execution of our weekly Tuesday night youth program, the Kulture, normally attended by 25-50 teenagers.
- Shape and own the vision for how the Kulture can continue to reach young people in North County for Jesus.
- Primary teacher during Kulture meetings, and oversee volunteer and guest teachers.
- Support the Lead Pastor and the overall leadership of Salem.
- Disciple and support Salem members and youth.
- Participate in the Salem preaching ministry on a regular basis.
- Provide vision and leadership for children’s and youth ministry (including Sunday morning classes and Tuesday evening youth ministry, The Kulture).
- Recruit and develop adult volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor in refining and executing church vision and values.
- Partner with Lead Pastor and Elders to provide leadership and direction to Salem’s Leadership Team.
Associate Pastor Requirements and Skills
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ that exhibits exemplary character and a desire to see the church be a biblically multicultural expression of God’s love.
- Agreement with Salem EFC’s statement of faith, mission, vision, and values.
- Experience teaching biblical principles and content to different age groups.
- Teachability and openness to working with the Lead Pastor and Board of Elders.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and a willingness to pursue theological education.
This is a Part Time position, with flexible hours. Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
